Who we are
Verbada is a mobile app that puts a short pause in front of apps you choose. To continue into a locked app, you say a short affirmation out loud. The check happens on your device. You can reach us at support@verbada.com.
The short version
- Speech is processed on your device to verify the affirmation. Verbada does not store that audio and does not upload it.
- Your backup PIN stays in secure storage on the device.
- On iPhone, apps you pick through Apple's Screen Time stay on the device as opaque tokens. Verbada cannot see which apps they are.
- If you ask for an AI-written affirmation, a short text prompt is sent to Verbada's server, which uses OpenAI to generate text. The prompt does not include audio.
- Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google. RevenueCat is used to tell the app whether a plan is active.
- There are no ads. We do not sell personal information.
Speech and audio
When you speak to unlock an app, speech recognition runs on the device. It is used only to check that you said the affirmation. Verbada does not keep a recording, does not build a voice profile, and does not send the audio to Verbada or to anyone else.
Backup PIN
If you set a backup PIN, it is stored locally in the device's secure storage. It is there so you can pass the pause when you cannot speak. It is not uploaded as part of the unlock check.
Which apps you lock
iPhone
You choose the apps. Verbada uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls APIs for that choice. Apple gives the app opaque tokens. Those tokens stay on the device. Verbada cannot read them to learn the names of the apps you selected, and we do not receive a list of those apps on our servers.
Android
Verbada asks for two permissions so the pause can appear when you open an app you selected:
- Usage access. This lets Verbada notice when an app you chose to lock comes to the foreground. It is a sensitive permission because it can reveal app-usage events on the device. Verbada uses it to show the pause you asked for. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
- Display over other apps (the overlay permission). This lets the pause screen sit on top of the locked app until you speak, use your PIN, or use a skip.
You can turn either permission off in Android settings. The pause cannot run without them. We do not upload your locked-app list or your audio to Verbada's servers.
Affirmations you write
Lines you type yourself are kept on the device with the rest of your app settings. They are not required for an account, because the app does not ask you to create one.
AI-written affirmations
You can use a built-in library of affirmations without sending anything off the device. If you ask Verbada to write a new line, the app sends a short text prompt to Verbada's server. That server uses OpenAI to generate the text and returns the line to the app.
The prompt is text, not audio. It is not your voice. It does not include your locked-app tokens, your PIN, or a contact list. It includes what is needed to write the line, such as a theme you picked or words you typed for that request. It is not used to build an advertising profile. The built-in library remains available if generation is off or unavailable.
Prompts for this feature are not tied to a name or an account. If you email support@verbada.com about a request you can identify, we will delete server-side records we can associate with that request. A prompt sent without an identifier may not be possible to single out later.
Subscriptions
Paid plans and the free trial are billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their terms. Verbada does not collect your card number on this website or in the app.
RevenueCat is used to manage entitlements: whether your trial or subscription is active. RevenueCat receives what it needs for that, such as a purchase token from the store and an app user id. We do not send RevenueCat your speech, your PIN, or your iPhone Screen Time tokens.
This website
verbada.com is a marketing site. It does not require an account. It does not run advertising, and it does not use third-party analytics cookies. The waitlist button opens an email to support@verbada.com in your own mail app. If you write to us, we use that message to reply and to tell you when the app is available. We do not sell those emails.
What we don't do
- We do not show ads in the app.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not upload or store the audio of your affirmations.
- We do not claim to diagnose, treat, or provide therapy.
How to delete data
- On the device. Uninstalling Verbada removes the local PIN, settings, and affirmations stored by the app. On iPhone, you can also remove Verbada's Screen Time access in Settings. On Android, you can revoke Usage access and the overlay permission in system settings.
- Subscriptions. Cancel in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Apple and Google keep their own purchase records under their policies. Canceling does not, by itself, delete those store records.
- Email to us. Write to support@verbada.com to ask us to delete messages you sent us, or any AI prompt records we can tie to your request.
Children
Verbada is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has written to us, email support@verbada.com and we will delete what we can find.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For a material change to how the app handles speech or prompts, we will also describe it in the app or by email if we have your address.
